Earning their Spurs

Watched the Carling Cup final yesterday, and well done to Spurs for winning a game that Chelsea just didn’t seem interested in. I have it on good authority that Pompey’s 1-0 win over Sunderland was awful. Still, if you can play badly and still win, that to me is the sign of a good side. Good to see Daniel Day-Lewis pick up an Oscar as well. Not to mention Tilda Swinson. “The British are Coming” (albeit in American films)

Has anyone else been watching “The Last Enemy” on BBC1 Sunday nights ? If you have, can you explain the multiple plot threads ? I was hoping it would be as good as “State of Play”, but there seems to be much too much going on at once.

Nanny Knows Best…

So…the government in the UK have decided that as from April 2009 they will legislate to stop people downloading films and music illegally. An honourable thing to do, as the film & music industry lose millions to illegal downloads…couldn’t agree more….

actually, I’m lying. This is one of the most unworkable laws that the nanny state in the UK have tried to force upon us. So…the government expects the ISPs to police every single packet of internet information we download in case we’re doing something we shouldn’t…and how will they differentiate between downloading a film on peer-to-peer software or a legitimate file (given that more and more of these depend on the peer-to-peer system)? Or even a programme on the BBC i-player or 4-on-demand, both of which are legitimate ways to watch programmes on your PC, and both of which use the peer-to-peer system to download the files to your PC. What next ? getting the Royal Mail to open our letters to ensure we’re not receiving dodgy items through the post ?

In other news, Pagham lost 2-1 at Hassocks today in the Sussex County League. Not our best performance of the season by a long shot. Next week we play the team at the top of our division.

And now my E-61 is playing up. Not receiving e-mails like it should. Gah, I’m off to watch TV. G’night !
