Where I’ve been….what I’ve done….

“THE YEAR SO FAR…”

Remember how I said that 2008 would be more frugal ? Hmmm…not how it’s turned out so far…first to go was my old Canon printer. In spite of my constant tweaks to get round the crafty way Canon build in a “fault” that costs a fortune fix, it was a late night printing session and some cheap paper that finally did for it. lots of cash later and a shiny new Canon printer has replaced it. Together with a stiff talking to from “Tim the Stationer”….”Don’t you use compatible inks again. Ever !”

That and my ever-so-reliable Honda has now started making odd noises in the morning. Which sound expensive. I blame the constant stop-start journey to work where they’re STILL doing bloody roadworks just outside a village called Hunston. It seems never ending, and the other morning there was an accident which took an hour to clear. This type of thing also puts paid to my carefully budgeted for petrol consumption. And if Brown even THINKS about putting up petrol another 2p in April I might, just might, do something very violent involving a petrol pump and someone’s bodily orifices.

“HURRY UP MR BUBBLES”…

I’ve now completed BIOSHOCK and it was a superb experience. I don’t normally go for the hype surrounding games (I’m looking at you, here “Halo”), but in this case it was warranted. Bioshock is one of the most immersive experiences I’ve had on a PC in something like 30 years of gamesplaying. Yes, it was probably shorter than it could have been, and yes there were certain sections of it which crawled just a tad on my PC (props to the X1950 graphics card for taking a lot of the strain). However, these were but minor irritations. Tremendous.

“FUNNIER THAN A VERY FUNNY THING INDEED”

The crown of funniest thing I’ve heard on the radio has moved from “Sorry I haven’t a clue” to the peerless DOWN THE LINE . A spoof radio phone-in. When it was on originally, people weren’t sure whether it was for real. And it does sound convincing. A procession of wierdos and crackpots calling Gary Bellamy make for one of the most pleasurable half hours you can have with your clothes on.

“FOOTBALL FOCUS”

Pagham continue to confound and confuse, with the latest game being a 5-2 reverse at Ringmer. Trouble was, we weren’t that bad. Simple errors cost us the game. As for Portsmouth, the signing of Lassana Diarra seems to be a masterstroke by Harry Redknapp, even if the player himself says he’s not hanging around.

The Ponderer returns….

Hello to 2008…

Yep…still around…just haven’t had much time to blog lately…largely due to the following…

PAGHAM FC

The Lions have had an “inconsistent” start to 2008. Following on from the 0-0 bore-draw at Selsey, we went to Wick and Lost 4-0 . After that, a fine 2-1 win at Three Bridges started the new year in style. Of course we couldn’t be trusted, and we then drew 1-1 at home to bottom of the table Sidley United. Today has started much as 2007 finished, with wet weather affecting my footy-fix, so no trip to Hailsham.

X-BOX 360 GAMING NIRVANA

Apart from an abortive attempt to get my ‘360 working on a home network, Christmas allowed me to finally sample some of the excellent gaming to be had on it. PGR4 is still top of the list, and with another “Burnout” title on the way, I should be sorted for fast racing malarkey for some time to go yet.

FACEBOOK

After vowing to shut down my facebook page ASAP as I thought it a refuge for people with no life, some geniuses at work (you know who you are, and names are with-held to protect the guilty) decided to start a competition involving five or six games on facebook. Because of that, football programme deadlines have been squeezed, website design has been put on the back burner and I’ve become even more reliant on my freeview PVR for TV programmes I may have missed….gah !

DVD watching

Found time to watch some films during the festive season as well…reviews over there on the new sidebar layout ===>
