Sunny side up…

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Well, last day but one of my hols…and what a great holiday it’s been…loads done, watched some decent football at Pagham…(we Won 3-0 on Saturday) and enjoyed some excellent weather. Also looking forward to “R” coming down to the south coast soon. Just about to sit and watch Sunshine which seems appropriate given the perfect opportunity to get sunburnt again tomorrow…

To finish off, something which proves I’m nothing if not topical here at the Domain…the latest publicity poster for this summer’s blockbuster movie…

The Holiday…day 5

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

So far since I was last here….Pagham Drew 1-1 at home on Saturday to Hailsham in the FA Cup…tense, nervous game…and then went to the Beaconsfield last night and Lost 2-0 to two very late goals.
Better news on the gaming front…this week saw me complete “Hurrican” , which put simply is the best arcade fun I’ve had in ages. Teeth-grindingly hard in places, strokes of genius abound, and best of all, its a completely free download ! Ignore the fact that the page appears in German, as apparently the word “download” is the same in both languages.

I recently e-mailed Skeddy to note that I’d yet to see anything which impressed me over much on the x-box 360…that changed this week… Burnout Revenge is (a) Damn good fun and (b) graphically a knock-out, even on my non-HD TV

Even the seminal classic “PGR 3″ now takes a back seat. Any game which allows my to actually crash and score points for it is a good one in my book (I’m notoriously hopeless at most racing games…apparently…)

Then there was “Katamari” which is now looking like its an XBox-360 Exclusive . Given the ingenuity of this game I’m rather pleased about that…all you do is roll a ball around the screen picking up all sorts of stuff to increase your ball size within a set time limit. Sounds simple ? Then so did Tetris, and look how popular that became.

Racheal (for that is how she spells her name  ) returned from her hols to berate me for (a) telling the world it had been raining every day in Dawlish when in fact she had spent some of the time on the beach making sandcastles with her nephew and niece. And looking for swords apparently, which I couldn’t help being a little concerned about….and (b) was not overly happy that I’d treated myself to another “toy”, in the shape of the Thomson DTI 6300 Freeview box which will allow me to subscribe to Setanta once Pompey are featured more (and will give me access to a lot more channels without lining the pockets of one Rupert Murdoch)

The car goes in for a service today…as I type this there’ll be various people at our local garage taking sharp intakes of breath, and readying the “that’s gonna cost you, guvnor” lines…
