Budget Blunder ?

Another budget here in the UK last week. Headline news was the 2p cut in income tax…From next year…and the fact that one rate of income tax was being abolished completely…and that car tax & petrol were going up…This year…was picked up by those who had some nous about them. I now cannot wait for our next general election.

Just not Cricket.

The tragic death of Bob Woolmer at the cricket World Cup overshadowed what had been an interesting sporting occasion. No one deserves to be murdered, least of all in the name of sport. I hope they find his killer and bring him to justice. As a side issue, the Pakistan Vs Ireland result being investigated has taken away what was, on the surface, a fine result by the Irish.

Go…in the name of all that is decent in Football, Go !

England’s limp 0-0 draw against Israel again proved Steve McLaren is blatantly the wrong man to manage the national side. He’s a good “number 2″, but never as a manager in charge of the side. Get rid of him, bring Venables in on a temporary basis until either Stuart Pearce, Peter Taylor or Steve Coppell are ready to take the job on full time.

The Lions continue to Roar.

2-2 against Crawley Down last weekend, 2-2 against Southwick midweek and a 3-0 thumping of East Grinstead yesterday. Five games unbeaten, 4 points clear at the top of Division 2…promotion here we come. (Special mentions to Mr & Mrs Titch “Looking forward to sharing the car with our favourite Gate-Stuntman on the St Francis Journey” and to Chelsea Phil….that image of the ball fetching is still making me laugh even now!)
Jeremy Clarkson.

Having worked very hard this week, I decided to “slum it” a little in my reading matter. I enjoy Jeremy Clarkson’s witterings on Top Gear, and was pleasantly surprised to find his books are just as entertaining.

Currying favour

My regular haunt of the Pagham Tandoori paid host to Pompey Nev, Mrs Pompey Nev and myself last night. Another excellent feast. Highly recommended if you’re ever in our part of Pagham.

Jade from Big Brother…

Has nothing to do with the game Jade Empire. As I mentioned before, it’s a superb game, and given the balls-up that has been made over some console conversions, it’s a pleasant surprise to find one that has gone X-Box to PC so easily.

You did remember to put your clocks forward didn’t you ?…

‘Nuff said !

This week….

Jade Empire.

Is good….very good. It’s definitely my sort of game. Lots of combat action, decent graphics, and not obviously a console port. But…it took an age to install. No, seriously. I’ve not had a game that’s taken this long to install for quite a while. Around half an hour to get everything installed and set up. And this from a game on DVD. On a PC with plenty of memory and hard drive space. Still, worth the wait.

The Pirate Princess

Has not been well this week. She’s getting better, and hopefully this mention will set her off into one of those fits of giggles that I seem to prompt in her (whether she’s laughing WITH me or AT me is open to discussion)

The day we went to Worthing…

Wednesday night saw myself, Titch, Mr Titch and most of the Pagham FC Posse off to Worthing United FC to watch the  Reserves take on Hassocks seconds in the Cup semi-final. We lost 1-0 to a VERY late goal, and the officials left a little to be desired. Still, with the reserves and the first team looking good for promotion, it would have just been a bonus had they got through to the final.

Crikket, luvverly Crikket

The Cricket World Cup has started, inevitably with a defeat for England. We win a couple of meaningless one-day matches, and the farce at the Ashes is seemingly forgotten. I expect us to probably qualify from our group, but no more than that. My tip for winners; South Africa.

Comic Relief

No matter what you might think of the mixture  of comedy/tragedy on Comic Relief night, it always manages to make me realise just how damn lucky I am. There are many people in this country as well as abroad who are going through bad times at the moment, and it’s these people who need all the help and support that the crave.
