Over to the Dark Side

Monday, October 30th, 2006

….saw the other side of the clocks going back when travelling home tonight…dark, winding roads, big juggernauts, old gits travelling too slowly…when’s summer coming back?

Lou-Lou called up last night…good laugh as always (”Ginger ?! NOOOOOO!!!!!” :D )

Found out that the SEA MIST site is getting more visitors, and its presence on various search engines is growing. Just as the winter sets in. Still, it’s up and running, and ready for a massive mid-winter update in time for bookings in the new year. I’ve been asked to do another couple of websites on the strength of that one…no doubt there’ll be at least one person who says “but your coding is sh*te”…good job their opinion doesn’t matter !

“Linda from Issix” reappeared after a week away madly packing for an impending move to a new property. I’m sure she came back looking more exhausted than when she went away !

Started hunting down possible Christmas present options….at the moment it amounts to “Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place” and “Green Wing Series 2″ on DVD, and “FM 2007″ for the PC. Due to “financial constraints”, the PSP might have to wait a while (that and the fact I’m “Far too old to be playing games” apparently…)

Spring Forward, Fall back…

ok…who amongst you in the UK forgot to put your clocks back last night ? Wonder why it was so much lighter this morning ?….

“Dog-Gone it”

Just like to say a massive thankyou to “Lady Wolfen Mists” for her sterling efforts in putting up a tribute to Barney for me…his (and also the tribute to “Rhubarb”, the Domain’s much missed cat) can be found at www.silverhoofs.com - great work and much appreciated by all of us who knew Barney & Rhubarb

The Price of Progress

With acknowledgement to Skeddy for his original post on the subject of DVD rip-offs, I was looking at the price of a new HD DVD player in the paper this morning…£800 !!…then you have to add the HD compatible TV…which would be at least £500…and to be honest, could most people really justify this outlay ? Much like the marketing of freeview (where the bonus of not having to pay a subscription was mentioned a lot. What wasn’t mentioned that Freeview can be unwatchable when it’s raining. Or windy. Or if you haven’t got a booster aerial), the marketing of HD is being boosted, with the help of the mighty SKY TV being a big culprit. Of course the fact that SKY HD means you would have to take out a subscription isn’t lost on most people. We’re not stupid, and I’m sure tha at some point some of this technology will go the way of Betamax, Mini-CD and D.A.T.

On the same sort of subject, there was a big piece in the Sunday Telegraph about how people are breaking the law each time they transfer their legitimately bought CDs to their MP3 players. It’s all due to a law made in 1709 (which you can read about Here ) , which the Government are “looking at”. And you thought it was just downloading music & films that was illegal…

The Sports page
Pagham won 4-1 against Broadbridge Heath yesterday (Match report Here ) and we played much better than last week. Pompey beat Reading 3-1, which caused an “atmos” with Scott W - don’t worry mate, you’re still in the top half of the Premiership. Yes, you owe me a pint, and yes we’re still above you in the premiership, but at least you’re not bottom of the Premiership…

Make it so, Captain Jack”
Anyone see the first two episodes of Torchwood ? Not bad. Not bad at all. Storylines ripped off from “X-files” and various other sci-fi series, but watchable all the same.

“Spanish Eyes”

Hello “Quiet Carla”…yes, I’m still in the same place…on the same e-mail…and the same phone number…good to hear from you…

“Christmas Conundrum”

With Christmas not THAT far away, my mind drifts to the yearly update of “Football Manager” wrapped up in Christmas paper…thing is, this year the producers of “Championship Manager 2007″ seem to have got their act together, and the gap betweent the two is a lot closer. It’s easier with Pro Evo Soccer Vs FIFA as I’ve never liked FIFA anyway. (This subject caused a long and involved conversation between “Chelsea Phil” and me yesterday).

“and now, the weather”

The weather has warmed up again. It’s November in a couple of days, but outside washing the car this morning was a pleasant experience in warm sunshine. Even now I’m sitting with the sun on my face being much more comfortable than someone sat outside in October in England has any right to be. Wierd.
