“Looks like we’ve got some weather on the way”…

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

Bet you thought I’d disappeared….not a bit of it, simply enjoying some pre-season football at Pagham, and some very good weather. Also used the couple of days off to good effect. Have you any idea how much paperwork builds up over 20 years ? I had a massive clear out and got rid of loads of paperwork that I was holding on to “just in case it was important”. Also got lots of stuff done on the new website. Nearly finished - just got to add a huge list of links for the website owner.

Pagham lost 1-0 & 4-2 on Saturday in a double header against Chipstead. Not classic games, and I’m hoping the game against Littlehampton on Tuesday (kick off 7.30 for those interested) might be more exciting. The pre-season is definitely in full swing, and after typing this up, I’m off to make a start on re-writing the Pagham FC site. Haven’t had much chance for gaming lately, what with one thing and another, but as the nights draw in, no doubt I’ll be engrossed in some imaginary scenario.

Talking of engrossed, is anyone else into “Cirque Du Soleil” ? Yes, I know it’s supposed to be very, very pretentious, but I think it’s mesmerising. The feats of those acrobats and other performers leave me open mouthed. Ideal watching after a hard day at work.

For those that were with me on my previous weblog, you’ll remember the saga about “King Kong” and how I missed out on seeing it at the cinema. Those people will be pleased to know I’ve now found time to see it on DVD. A very good film it is too. Did get me thinking though about the consequences of man messing around with Nature. There was Kong, doing his thing on Skull Island, having the odd sacrificed native to satisfy his needs when along comes this camera crew and it ends with *SPOILER* Kong taking a dive off the empire state building. Reminds me of that sketch on “Not the Nine O’ Clock News”…”When I captured Gerald, he was wild”…”Wild ?! I was absolutely livid !”

Just finished reading “Grumpy Old Men” - had read two other books on the same theme, and came up with the frightening conclusion that yes, I am indeed a “Grumpy Old man”. Now reading “Return of the Timewaster Letters”…another funny book.

Pre-season Match Tension

Pagham played their second Friendly last night and lost to Horndean 1-0. We looked a bit disjointed, and there were some “interesting” decisions by the ref. Still, not got to the “Proper stuff” yet, so there’s still time to iron out any incosistencies. Thunderstorm overnight which has done precisely nothing to get rid of the humidity in the air.

I see the Italian football scandal has taken another twist, with the clubs involved all having their punishments reduced. Hmmm…still, Juventus have stayed in Serie B, which means they’ve got quite a fight on their hands if they want an immediate return to Serie A.

Just read a review of “Outrun 2006″ for the PC. Looks like a decent sort of game, returning to the roots of arcade driving games. To my mind there’s far too much faffing around with strategy games on the PC these days. Games like “World of Warcraft” do nothing for me.

Haven’t seen AMG for eight weeks now. Both been busy…but things should quieten down for us both now (other than the football season, her trip to Australia..etc, etc.)

Must admit I agree with Skeddy that the PSP looks a decent peice of kit. But a new mobile phone comes first for me…My Nokia 6820 is looking a little worse for wear, and favourites at the moment are either the Nokia 9500 or the Nokia E61. Have to see what my phone provider says about this. Not overly interested in a “3″ phone, or even one with a camera. Most cameras on mobiles are fairly shocking, and “3″ is fine if you can afford the monthly fees, which I can’t always.
